Survey shows agent’s booming sales

Business is booming for a leading estate agent, with completed sales up more than a third compared to the same period last year.  JW Wood staff in Durham are celebrating the 34 per cent rise in completions compared to the same five-month period in 2011.

Agreed sales have been running at more than double that of the company’s nearest rival in the DH1 postcode area so far this year.

The figures are based on an independent survey of property websites undertaken by Vizzihome, the independent industry market research provider.

Properties have been sold subject to contract or are under offer.  Delighted with the latest figures, JW Wood management claims the success is an indication of the company’s ethos ofhard work, local knowledge and customer service.

Director Geoff Graham said: “House sales don’t just happen – they require a lot of hard work and commitment by the agent.  “We have a large, dedicated sales team at JW Wood with excellent local knowledge of the Durham area. This means we can offer clients invaluable expert advice when they are looking to move home. “We pursue sales to the nth degree and minimise the chances of them falling through, in addition to having an excellent stock of housing on our books to maximise the choice we’re able to offer buyers.

“These latest figures prove we are the leading agent in Durham, there to offer customers a one-stop shop for all their housing needs, whether that’s buying, selling or renting.”  Geoff believes that although the market still has some way to go, there are signs of improvement: “It’s certainly been a challenging few years, which makes our
performance even more encouraging.  “Traditionally, the market slows in the summer months, but now that some of the high street lenders are beginning to offer 95 per cent mortgages again we are hopeful of seeing increasing movement in the market in the second half of the year.”

JW Wood was established in 1910 and has a proud tradition as a general practice firm of surveyors and estate agents.  Its team of more than 50 staff across six offices, including ten in residential sales alone in Durham, offers a comprehensive service on all property matters.  As well as working on behalf of owners to sell or let their properties, and helping tenants and buyers to find homes to rent and purchase, the company provides survey and valuation services and advises on mortgages.  It also has experts to support clients who are buying or selling land or commercial premises and those seeking a commercial lease.

The firm’s other offices can be found in Darlington, Bishop Auckland, Consett, Stanley and Chester-le-Street.
