Questions and answers

I am managing on my own, but my health is not good. Would this scheme work for me?
Yes, the scheme will have a mix of able and less able residents. You must meet the eligibility criteria, and we will arrange for a member of our team to contact you and discuss your housing, care and support needs.

I already live in sheltered housing – how is this scheme different?
The main difference between sheltered housing and assisted living is that care, and support staff are on the premises every day. There are also social activities and other services arranged by the Scheme Manager.

My husband is very unwell and we get a lot of help from our family and friends. Do we both have to meet the eligibility criteria?
No. As long as one of you meet the criteria you can move in together and your family and friends can continue to help as before if they want to, with the added support of the care staff.

My doctor has said I should go into a home. What are the advantages of assisted living over a care home?
You will have your own bungalow or apartment, control over your finances, and privacy and choice about how much you mix with the other residents. The care staff will support you in looking after yourself for as long as possible, and you can keep up your usual routines and activities in the local area.
