Rightmove study reveals true influence of floor plans

Recent research by Rightmove has revealed the power of floor plans when marketing properties for sale or rent; identifying that over half of the 10,000 survey respondents said they would NOT instruct an agent if they did not provide a floor plan.

The survey also reveals that 78% of sellers rated the importance of having a floor plan when selling as “7/10” or higher, while 1 in 5 potential buyers or tenants said they would either “ignore the property advert completely” or “only re-visit it if nothing else caught their eye”, if a floor plan was not published.

Some of the key findings include:

Sellers
•78% of sellers rated the importance of having a floor plan when selling as 7/10 or higher
•42% of sellers and 37% of landlords would not invite an agent to value their home if they did not offer a floor plan
•Over half would not instruct an agent if they did not offer a floor plan / 1 in 2 Sellers and 43% of Landlords would not instruct an agent if they did not provide a floor plan

Buyers
•37% said less likely to enquire about a floor plan
•1 in 5 buyers said they would ignore a property advert first time round if no floor plan was published
•Floor plans are more important to buyers –many of which are prospective vendors – than main images, summary text or the brochure.

The statistics truly illustrate the importance that both buyers and sellers today place on floor plans.

It mirrors previous published research that found how properties with a floor plan received up to 30% more interest than those without.
