JW Wood sponsored Durham Women FC

Sunday 6th June saw a trio of JW Wood-sponsored Durham Women FC players venture out into the community to inspire young footballers.

Defensive duo Lauren Jordinson and Chloe Macek were at the City of York Girls’ Football League’s 15th Annual Tournament.

The tournament, which saw over 60 teams attend, is one of the biggest in the region and the Wildcats pair were able to meet over 600 aspiring female footballers.

As well as posing for photos and signing autographs, Jordinson and Macek were on hand to present trophies to the successful teams on the day.

Midfielder Beth Hepple, meanwhile, was at the Cumberland FA’s Charter Standard Festival held in Penrith.

Now in it’s 11th year, the Festival saw over 2000 young players descend on Frenchfields over the weekend, with Hepple playing an active role in the Girls’ Festival on the Sunday.

The England U20 international answered the youngsters’ burning questions on life as a female footballer, while taking photos with the vast majority of teams present.

Commenting on the appearances, Marketing Officer Mark Donnelly said: “Appearances like these are a vital part of our club’s community work.

“We feel it only right that we play our part in inspiring the next generation of female footballers.

“All three players were excellent ambassadors for the club and hopefully helped encourage young girls to keep playing football.”

The Wildcats will be back in FA Women’s Super League action on Sunday 26th June, when they take on table-topping Yeovil Town Ladies at New Ferens Park (DH1 1GG). Tickets are available now at durham.fawsl.com
