Do First Impressions Count?

Do First Impressions Count?

‘You only get one chance at a first impression’. We’ve all heard this line before, maybe even said it ourselves. Impressions relate to much more than meeting a new person, and one thing which is very apparent to me and all of my colleagues within JW Wood, is that it has never been more important than when presenting your home for sale.

In a market where you are potentially competing with 100s of properties, you need to ensure yours stands out – and for the right reasons!

Curb Appeal

Take a step back from your home - look at the exterior. What do you notice? Essentially, you’re doing what most potential purchasers will do before arranging a viewing. Is your driveway clear? Is your garden well-maintained? Is there anything your eye is drawn to? Before commencing marketing ensure your exterior looks the best it can. We want people to be impressed enough to be excited about seeing the interior!

Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home for many people, with us spending a chunk of our time here. There’s no need to be upgrading your kitchen units or replacing appliances – all you need to do is make sure your kitchen is free of clutter. Dirty dishes, stained work surfaces and discoloured grout can all be off-putting factors, which can be easily rectified with an afternoons work.

Tidy Up

The perfect opportunity to have a clear out arises when you make the decision to move house. It may be that you’re downsizing and therefore looking to offload items anyway, but take this opportunity no matter what your reason, to unclutter your home. What is important to remember however is, right now, this is still your home! Don’t depersonalise it. We want you to love your home – if you love your home, it will come across to your viewers and help them picture themselves making their own memories.

Take advantage of our experience when discussing your home. We are here to help and will always offer constructive feedback where necessary. Don’t be shy to ask!
