JW Wood and Durham WFC have teamed up to support girls’ football in two secondary schools

Park View in Chester-le-Street and Consett Academy both have active girls’ football programmes, and were presented with brand new JW Wood-sponsored football kits to help support their fantastic work.

These brand new strips will be worn by the schools in competitions across the County and wider area and will mean the girls no longer have to use outdated kits or, in some cases, share with the boys’ teams.

The aspiring young footballers were given their new kit by Durham Women striker Zoe Ness and JW Wood regional directors, Adrian Siddall and Chris Clarkson.

And Siddall was delighted to help, saying: “JW Wood are delighted to continue our relationship with Durham Women Football Club and for our Chester-le-Street office to be able to support one of our own local school’s teams gives me a great personal pleasure.

“Having worked in Chester-le-Street for almost 30 years I am well aware of Park View’s outstanding academic reputation and I hope we can in some way encourage this team to continue those achievements onto the football field.”

Clarkson echoed his views, adding: “We’re delighted that the Consett Academy girls team have been selected to wear the new JW Wood sponsored kit.

“The team look just as professional as the Durham Women’s team now!

“We wish both teams the best of luck for this season.”

Durham Women FC Media and Marketing Officer, Mark Donnelly, said: “It’s great to be able to partner up with JW Wood and help support girls’ football in the local area.

“Both Park View and Consett Academies have successful girls’ teams and hopefully they can continue their fine form in these new kits.”
