Wilson to captain the Wildcats

Sarah Wilson has been named first-team captain ahead of our impending WSL2 season.

The defender will take over from Caroline Dixon, who has been ruled out of the entire season through injury.

The 23-year-old was a virtual ever-present during our maiden WSL2 campaign and has taken the armband in Dixon’s absence throughout pre-season.

After a raft of impressive displayers, manager Lee Sanders has decided Wilson will skipper the Wildcats for the 2015 season.

Dixon will remain club captain, supporting the team from the sidelines and remaining a fundemental part of the changing room during her recovery.

Beth Hepple and Jen Jennings have been named vice-captains and will support Wilson throughout the season.

Wilson is by no means new to the position, having previously captained former club Newcastle United WFC.

She takes the armband as official first team captain for the first time against Sunderland on Sunday, before leading the Wildcats into their first League game of the season against Doncaster Belles on March 19.
